Art and Design is an inspired and challenging subject that provides students with a high-quality education in creativity, visual communication, and personal expression.

At Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, students are encouraged to explore ideas with confidence, develop creative resilience, and engage in meaningful artistic experiences.

The Art and Design curriculum is designed to nurture creativity, imagination, and curiosity. You will be supported to think independently, take creative risks, and develop confidence in experimenting and exploring your ideas.

Learning is both inspiring and challenging, enabling you to engage deeply with visual language and develop a strong understanding of artistic processes. The curriculum promotes high standards, ambition, and personal achievement. You will be encouraged to explore a wide range of ideas, themes, and concepts. Creativity is central to all learning, and you can develop the confidence to experiment, refine your work, and express your own creative voice.

You will engage in a wide range of 2D and 3D art and design practices, including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and mixed media. You will learn how to use materials and techniques effectively to create skilful, personal, and meaningful outcomes that reflect your ideas and intentions. Exploration and experimentation with a wide range of materials, tools, and processes is a key feature of Art and Design. You will develop technical skills while learning how to make informed creative decisions. This approach builds confidence and encourages independence in selecting appropriate materials and techniques for your work. You will evaluate and critically reflect your own work and the work of others.
