KEY STAGE 4 CURRICULUM OUTLINE

For the KS4 curriculum, Business is delivered through vocational BTEC courses.

The new BTEC Level 1/Level 2 Tech Award in Enterprise will be studied by our Year 10 and 11 students.

This course offers you the opportunity to:

  • develop sector-specific knowledge and skills in a practical learning environment
  • develop key skills that prove learners’ aptitude in planning and pitching out an enterprise activity
  • develop communication skills
  • apply knowledge in practical ways

Topics covered include:

Component 1: Exploring Enterprises (Coursework)

Component 2: Planning for and Running an Enterprise (Coursework)

Component 3: Promotion and Finance for Enterprise (External Controlled Assessment)

The course offers you an introduction to the world of business with a high-level of ICT input, working in a near “paperless” environment.

FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES AND PATHWAYS POST 16

A Business qualification provides pupils with the opportunity to follow a range of pathways post 16.

In Business Studies, many past pupils have chosen to continue their studies in business related subjects at College, University and through apprenticeship courses.

EXTRA CURRICULAR OPPORTUNITIES

There are a variety of opportunities to engage in enterprise activities and challenges both within and external to the Academy, throughout the KS4 course.
